Azure-Crowned Hummingbird Square Pillow

Part of the limited edition Birds of Guatemala Collection from Mayan Hands, this handwoven pillow is inspired by the stunning, bright colors of the Azure-Crowned Hummingbird. Shades of rich purple and green stripes are accented by jaspe detail on the front of this square pillow. Finished with off-white backing. This statement handwoven pillow represents a collaboration between three talented groups of artisans. The colorblock textile is woven on a backstrap loom, the cinta tag accent is woven on a small pedal loom, and the geometric randa (traditionally found joining panels of corte, a woman's skirt) is hand-embroidered. Mayan Hands is a fair-trade nonprofit dedicated to providing economic and educational opportunities to Maya women and girls, so that they can build sustainable futures for themselves, their families and communities, as they continue to live within the culture they cherish.
