"High in the mountains of Guatemala, young Ixchel yearns to follow in the long tradition of weaving beautiful fabrics on backstrap looms as Mayan women have done for thousands of years. But Ixchel's mother is busy creating weavings to sell at the market and has no extra thread for Ixchel to use.

Disappointed, Ixchel searches for other weaving materials. First she tries blades of grass, next bits of wool, but the results are less than beautiful. Then Ixchel notices all the colorful plastic bags that litter her village. Suddenly, she has an idea!
