Merah Batik Nativity

Soft sengon wood is carved, sanded, and hand-batiked in rich, dark tones with traditional Indonesian patterns and motifs in this contemporary-style wooden nativity. Nine piece set features Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, manger, three wisemen and two animals. Our fair trade partner, SERRV International, has been working with artisans in Java, Indonesia since 1993, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for orders. Through sales of their products, artisans from nearly 100 small micro-producers—many family workshops located in small rural villages around Yogyakarta receive access to micro loans, training in financial management, design and marketing skills, and access to international markets to sell their crafts.
